Raising
a dog as they say is like raising a kid. You feed them, give them a
bath, take them to the doctor and play with them. However, the moment
they do the unexpected thing, biting or attacking a passerby or a
neighbor, you become accountable and responsible for their actions.
Although dogs are considered as man's best friend. They can be a good
companion for the owner. But it is better should an owner or an
individual to learn the legal rights and the things to do when
animals attack.
One cannot avoid the fact that dogs and wild animals bite or attack when they are provoked. Owners should be legally responsible for the actions being done may it be a common pet or a wild animal. Victims can file for a claim for the damages experienced. In cases such as a wild animal attack, regardless should the victim provoked the animal that resulted to the injury or attack, he can still file for a claim. In other words, owners are liable for not limited to every injury the victim has experience, and other personal or property damages caused by the incident. Unless a visible warning sign is displayed in the animal owner's property, filing a claim would not be possible. Also, a 6 year old and below victim is no longer the responsibility of the pet owner unless it is proven in court that it was negligence that the incident happened instead his parents are liable for the young kid.
Wild
animals and dangerous dogs are a different case. Whenever a dog falls
under the state's definition of a dangerous dog, then, the owner has
to register the dog within the state. Same cases for wild animals
where an owner needs to register their wild pets as well with the
state. These are legal responsibilities of a dangerous dog or wild
pet owner. Either a tattoo placed on the inner-thigh or an electronic
chip will be implanted as a mark of the dangerous dog. Owners have to
keep the dogs indoors or when placed outside the house, they have to
be contained in a secure pen to prevent them from escaping or keeping
the small children away. In addition, there has to be visible warning
signs that says a dangerous dog resides in the property. These signs
should be at all entry points of the owner's property. Also, when the
owner decides to sell the pet, the animal control has to be informed.
And whenever the dog escapes or moved to another address, dies, or
confined in an animal hospital, still, the animal control has to be
informed.
We
understand the responsibilities of the pet owner but what happens
when accidents happen causing injuries to an individual?
Dog bite or animal attack victims may contact a trusted lawyer to
file for a claim for the damages that was experienced. They have the
rights to claim for the compensation for the medical expenses and
other fees to recover for the pain and suffering. An experienced and
specialized attorney represents the victim to receive settlement for
the injury.
